Parallel connection example for models N69172A and N69173A
SHOCK HAZARD, LETHAL VOLTAGES - Some models generate output voltages up to
2,000 VDC! Ensure that all instrument connections, load wiring, load and sense
connections are insulated using high-voltage wire. Always attach the safety cover
provided, so that no accidental contact with lethal voltages can occur.
Primary/Secondary Connections
A primary/secondary configuration can be used when connecting units in parallel. This allows one
designated unit to be the primary controller of all of the units in the paralleled stack. The
primary/secondary communication uses a digital RS485 bus. Connections are made using the
supplied, shielded CAT6A cable as shown in the following figures. For further information about
primary/secondary configurations, refer to
Parallel Operation .
Do not install units into a primary/secondary configuration that are not actively being
used as part of the primary/secondary group.
