converter of the instrument, the unit will shut down immediately without waring and will not generate
an OT status.
PF Power-fail protection detects AC line disturbances that might cause a malfunction. If an AC line
disturbance is detected, the unit goes into a latched protection state. PF protection is always
enabled.
Prot Protection indicates the output is disabled because the programmed output watchdog timer
expired. It also indicates that a PSP fault has occurred on a secondary unit.
EDP excessive dynamic protection
protects the instrument from damage in the event of excessive large repetitive voltage swings. These
can be caused by a list, CD arb, SCPI voltage programming, or load-induced output voltage changes.
If left unchecked, excessive voltage dynamics could cause capacitors in the instrument to experience
RMS currents (resulting in self-heating) that is beyond their design limits, potentially resulting in
premature failure. When tripped, the unit will go into a latched protection. EDP should not engage
under normal conditions. EDP protection is always enabled.
INH The Inhibit input (pin 3) on the rear panel digital connector can be programmed to act as an
external shutdown signal. Refer to
for details.
PSP A Primary/Secondary Protection fault has occurred in the paralleled group. All outputs of all
paralleled units are disabled. PSP is always enabled. Refer to
for details.
DOV+ Positive DUT over-voltage is active when the output is off and then turned on in HIGHZ mode. If
the DUT is applying a voltage on the output terminals less than the following voltage levels, the
output will not turn on to prevent excessive current from flowing into the unit.
Voltage priority: if the DUT voltage exceeds the programmed v 1% of the unit's rated voltage.
Current priority: if the DUT voltage exceeds the positive voltage limit + 1% of the unit's rated voltage.
DOV- Negative DUT over-voltage is active when the output is off and then turned on. If the DUT is
applying a voltage on the output terminals less than the following voltage levels, the output will not
turn on to prevent excessive current from flowing out of the unit.
Voltage priority: if the DUT voltage is less than - 1% of the unit's rated voltage.
Current priority: if the DUT voltage is less than the negative voltage limit - 1% of the unit's rated
voltage.
LOV+ Positive local over-voltage protection trips if the remote sense leads are accidentally shorted.
This protection minimizes the resulting rise in output voltage by comparing the voltage on the output
terminals to a voltage level that is 1 volt plus 10% of rating above the user-programmed positive OVP
level. If the output voltage exceeds this level the unit goes into a latched protection state. LOV is
always enabled.
LOV- Negative local over-voltage protection is not available on one-quadrant models.
OCF+ Positive over-current fault is active when the DUT applies a reverse voltage to the output
terminals. It minimizes the resulting peak current at the output terminals by comparing the actual
output current to a fixed level of 105% of the unit's rated current. If the current exceeds this level, the
unit will go into a latched protection.
