BATTERY/CHARGING SYSTEM
ALTERNATOR CHARGING COIL
INSPECTION
R em ove the m ain seat (page 3-4).
W ith the ignition switch turned OFF, disconnect the
alternator 3P (Black) connector.
M easure the resistance betw een the Y e llo w w ire
term inals.
STANDARD: 0.1 - 1.0 £2 a t 20°C (68 F)
Check fo r continuity between each w ire term in als of
the alternator/stator side connector and ground.
There should be no c o n tin jity .
Replace the stator if the resistance is out of specifi­
cation, o r if any w ire has continuity to ground.
For alternator/starter replacement (page 12-4).
REGULATOR/RECTIFIER
SYSTEM INSPECTION
R em ove the m ain seat (page 3-4).
Disconnect the regulator/rectifier 2P (Black) connec­
to r and alternator 3P (Black) connector, and check it
fo r loose contact or corroded term inals.
If the regulated voltage reading (page 19-7) is out of
the specification, measure the voltage betw een the
2P (Black) connector term inals as follows:
ITEM TER M IN AL SPECIFICATION
Battery charging Red ( + ) and Battery voltage
line Green (-) should appear
G round line Green and Continuity
ground should exist
If all com ponents o f th e charging system are norm al
and there are no loose connections at the regulator/
rectifier connectors, replace the regulator/rectifier.
REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
Rem ove the right seat cowl (page 3-12).
W ith the ignition switch turned OFF, disconnect the
alternator 3P (Black) con recto r and regulator/recti­
fier 2P (Black) connector.
R em ove the bolts and regulator/rectifier.
Installation is in the reverse o rd er o f rem oval.
