ELECTRIC STARTER
GROUND LINE
Disconnect the starter relay sw itch 4P connector.
Turn the ig n itio n sw itch ON w ith the engine stop
sw itch at " Q " .
Check fo r c o n tin u ity between the Green/red w ire
te rm in a l and ground.
If there is c o n tin u ity w hen the ne u tra l/d rive clutch is
in neutral the gro u n d circu it o f the relay co il is n o r­
m al. (In neutral, there is a s lig h t resistance due to
the diode.).
STARTER RELAY VOLTAGE
C onnect the starter relay switch 4P connector.
Turn the ig n itio n sw itch ON.
Operate the n eutral/drive clutch to the neutral.
M easure the vo lta g e between the yello w /re d w ire
te rm in a l (+) and gro u n d (-).
If the battery vo lta g e appears w hen the starter
sw itch b u tto n is pushed, the p o w e r s u p p ly c irc u it of
the relay coil is norm al.
OPERATION CHECK
D isconnect the 4P connector, battery p ositive (+)
w ire , starter m o to r cable fro m the starter relay
sw itch.
Connect a fu lly charged 12 V battery to the starter
relay sw itch te rm in a ls as shown.
If there is c o n tin u ity when the 12 V battery con­
nected and no c o n tin u ity when the 12 V ba tte ry d is­
connected starter relay sw itch is norm al.
REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
Remove the left seat cow l (page 3-12).
Turn the ig n itio n sw itch OFF.
D isconnect the ba tte ry negative (-) cable.
Remove the starter relay sw itch fro m the tabs.
