REAR WHEEL/SUSPENSION
SERVICE INFORMATION
GENERAL
• Riding on damaged rims impairs safe operation of the vehicle.
• A contaminated brake disc or pad reduces stopping power. Discard contaminated pads and clean a contaminated disc
with a high quality brake degreasing agent.
• When servicing the rear wheel, shock absorber, or swingarm , raise the rear wheel off the ground by supporting the
frame securely.
• Use only Honda Genuine replacement bolts and nuts for all suspension pivot and m ounting points.
• When using the lock nut wrench for the swingarm pivot lock nut, use a deflecting beam type torque wrench 20 inches
long. The lock nut wrench increases the torque wrench's leverage, so the torque wrench reading w ill be less than the
torque actually applied to the lock nut. The specification given is the actual torque applied to the lock nut, not the read­
ing on the torque wrench. Do not overtighten the lock nut, The specification later in the text gives both actual and in d i­
cated.
