Once you have entered the audio profile information click to configure the
WorldCast Equinox with this profile
If you decide not to use the newly selected audio profile click to revert back
to the old profile
Note:
The Equinox provides algorithm auto-detection for incoming G.711 calls on ISDN. If the Equi-
nox is not connected on an active call it will switch to G.711 if it answers an incoming G.711 (A-law or
u-Law) call
– irrespective of the default audio profile at that time. When the call is dropped the Equi-
nox will revert back to the default audio profile. It is possible that this switch to G.711 will cause arte-
facts in the audio.
6.6.3.1
Choosing your algorithm
To assist in choosing which algorithm is right for your application, please refer to the table
Also note that some IP overhead is required on top of the bit rate. Please see IP Bit rate calculator for
details.
Also note that any statements in this table have not been verified.

Recommended Application
Eapt-X
16 / 24 bit
1.9ms (using
Eapt-X24
576kbs)
64 to 384
(Eapt-X16),
576 (Eapt-X
24)
High quality audio connections, distribu-
tion and STL. Ideal for low latency links.
Linear (un
compressed)
16 / 20 / 24
bit up to
96kHz
Theoretically
0ms
512kbs to
2.304Mbs
High quality uncompressed audio. Dis-
tribution and STLs.
MPEG L2
Up to 22kHz
34ms (at
192kbs)
64kbs to
384kbs
High quality connections for STL and
Distribution. Most codecs support this
algorithm.
MPEG L3
Up to 15kHz
54ms (at
128kbs)
64kbs to
256kbs
High quality, low bit rate, for remotes,
STLs and distribution.
MPEG L3
VBR
Up to 15kHz
54ms (at
128kbs)
Variable
Minimises file size for storage, good for
compressing Linear stream. Used to
communicate with Barix codecs.
G722
7kHz
4ms
64kbs
Voice Quality. Most other codecs sup-
port this algorithm.
G711
3kHz
~0ms
64kbs
Voice Quality. Most other codecs sup-
port this algorithm. Telephone use.
MPEG 4 AAC
LD
Up to 22kHz
20ms (at
128kbs)
64kbs to
384kbs
High quality low bit rate and half the de-
lay of AAC LC. Also STL and distribu-
tion.
MPEG 2/4
AAC LC
Up to 22kHz
55ms (at
96kbs)
64kbs to
256kbs
High quality low bit rate for remotes. Al-
so STL and distribution.
MPEG 4 AAC
HEv1/v2
Up to 22kHz
129ms (at
56kbs)
24kbs to
64kbs
Radio streaming, good for remote appli-
cations on low bit rates.
