5.7. Menu
– SIP
SIP is supported from according to the European Broadcasting Union recommendation Tech 3326 issued
by the N/ACIP project group of the EBU.
5.7.1. SIP Server
The “Peer-To-Peer” mode checkbox allows switching between either:
using a SIP server for SIP calls management, or
making direct point-to-point connections without the intervention of a SIP server
If unchecked the SIP User Agents (UA) will attempt to register and pass all SIP signaling through the SIP
server of which address is specified here. Two options for entering the server address are possible:
1.
Set address to a Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) prefixed by “sip:” where the FQDN is
the name that will resolve to the SIP server host machine. When using the FQDN address it is
important to ensure that the Preferred DNS address is correctly configured for the unit. Set-
tings for DNS are found in the Network Configuration tab (see 5.11.3).

Set address to “sip:xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx” where xxx represents the full dot separated IP address of
the computer that is hosting the SIP server.
5.7.2. Local SIP Users
This is where a unique SIP address is assigned to each individual codec. It must be assigned to each
available codec card that is present in the system.
When
operating
in
Peer-to-Peer
mode,
the
format
of
the
local
user
address
is
sip:[email protected]. xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx represents the IP address of Ethernet port 0. The
username can be any combination of alpha numeric characters with the exception of special characters
such as '/', '@', '#', '?' etc. It is quite handy to choose a describing name. Please note that the full SIP ad-
dress is limited to 64 characters.
When operating with a SIP server, it is possible to use the formatting as shown above or alternatively the
address can contain the domain name of the host server: sip:username@domain, where the domain
