You must select whether the selected WorldCast Equinox is operating in Master or Slave mode. Master and
slave settings are used for 2 reasons.
Firstly this setting selects which codec in a codec pair will control the operation of the connection. If the Primary
connection fails the Master attempts calling on the Backup connection. It is important that only one codec in a
pair is set as Master and it is advisable to set up the Slave codec first.
Secondly, if an IP or SIP connection is in use, only one master must be present on any given link. If there is
more than one master on a link then this will cause clocking issues and eventually there will be audio glitching.
Always ensure there is only one master unit.
If you choose a backup connection you will also be prompted for a master /slave option. Note that if you ex-
pect a codec when in backup mode to initiate a call to another codec, this would need to be set as master for
the backup option. Only codecs configured as master can initiate backup connections.
On the bottom of the screen CMS will indicate the status of the connection
– whether the Primary or secondary
Backup connection is active and the name of the destination to which it is connected.
The IP Status indicators indicate the state of an IP connection. If the indicators are green then the IP connec-
tion is active
– red they are not active - Yellow indicates that the unit is transmitting or receiving IP packets
even though it has not established an RTP connection.
It is not possible to select SIP in a backup scenario with this release.
Once you have selected new parameters click to configure the
WorldCast Equinox
If you decide not to use the new parameters click to revert back
to the old
6.5.11.
Cnx
– X.21
Clicking on the X21 tab will display the configuration options for the X.21 interface.
X.21 configuration screen
As X.21 is a permanent fixed connection there are no call setup procedures for X.21. Simply enter a name for
the remote codec
– this will be used in some of the status screens. Select an audio profile from the drop down
list. An audio profile defines information like connection speed, algorithm used for compression, stereo/mono
mode etc..
