Note:
FEC is not supported when bandwidth flexing is enabled
6.5.22.2 FEC Compatibility mode
This feature is set as
FEC Stream Port + 6
by default - maintains compatibility with IP aux data
and IP remote status (ports used) with other APT equipment.
FEC compliance mode (ports used) needs to be set to
FEC Stream Port + 2
if the user wishes
to use FEC according to the spec SMPTE 2022-1-2007. Please bear in mind the impact that
this setting will have in relation to IP Aux and IP relay ports. IP aux normally uses the audio port
+2 and relays on port +4. E.g. on this setting, if the audio port is set to 5004, FEC will stream
on port 5006, the aux will pass on port 5010 and relays on port 5012.
If FEC mode is set to
FEC Stream Port + 6
the FEC packet stream uses the audio port +6. The
IP aux and IP relays in this case will work over ports +2 and +4 respectively. E.g. if audio is on
port 5004, the FEC stream will use port 5010. IP aux will be sent on port 5006 and IP relays on
port 5008. In this setting it will be compatible with other firmware versions of Eclipse for IP Aux
and IP relays.
Note:
The packet resequencer will be automatically enabled when FEC is enabled.
Note:
Ensure that both ends of the link are set to the same FEC stream port setting, i.e. either
both +6 or +2.
Note:
Embedded Aux and relays are not affected by FEC port configuration.
Note:
APT do not recommend FEC for use with Linear PCM 24 22kHz Stereo.
Note:
Using FEC will add approximately 20% onto your bandwidth usage.
