To connect a “virtual” WorldCast Equinox unit to the Family Tree, enter an IP address within the range of
127.0.0.1 – 127.254.254.254
and select WorldCast Equinox as the APT Unit Type, then
click on the “Add
Unit” button. A new unit will appear on the main screen. If you enter the detail screens of this unit, you will have
most of the features and option of a real WorldCast Equinox available - only the hardware related parameters
and status information are not available.
6.3.6. Log File and Alarms Report
The WorldCast Equinox stores two different logs, the Log File and the Alarms Report. Whenever the WorldCast
Equinox flags an alarm, your troubleshooting should start with an examination of these log files.
6.3.7. The Log File
Tool Bar
Logs button
Clicking on the Logs button opens the Log Viewer Window. This Log File con-
tains log entries containing time and date, system boot-up information, configu-
ration changes as well as all alarms and the firmware version.
The WorldCast Equinox logs all events that happen during its time in operation. Clicking on the
“Logs” button,
means the CMS downloads the currently stored log file. This will be the log file removed from the unit.
6.3.8. Active Alarms Window
Pressing this button will open the current alarms window as shown in the figure
below.
The current alarms window shows a list of the current alarms on the NMS at this moment. The-
se alarms are applicable to all of the units currently connected to the NMS.
Alarms are categorised into minor, major and critical depending on the severity.
Active indicates that the alarm is currently showing. It is possible to acknowledge an active
alarm by pressing the acknowledge button. This could be useful if the codec is undergoing
maintenance.
Cleared means the alarm is no longer active. Cleared alarms can be removed from the list by
pressing the „Remove Cleared Alarms‟ button.
This feature is linked to the audible alarms, found on section 4.5.11.
