71 ± 1.5 °C (159.8 ± 2.7 °F)
Below 85 °C (185 °F)
when opening by 8 mm
(0.315 in.)
Suspend the thermostat in the water by a string.
While heating the water slowly, read the tempera-
tures when the valve starts to open and when the
valve opens for approx. 8 mm(0.315 in.).
If the measurements are not within the factory
specifi cations, replace the thermostat.

Unscrew the four water pump case nuts (M6, 1)
tightened to the gear case to remove the water
pump case (2).
Pull out the fan pulley installation fl ange with a pull-
er. Then, pull out the water pump bearing, impeller
and mechanical seal.
Install in the reverse order of removal.
If the mechanical seal is removed, replace it with a
new one.

The water pump components are fi rmly pressed
in and can be disassembled only with a special
tool. Therefore, it is recommended to replace the
water pump assembly as a whole unit.
