UC-P100-S/UC-P110-S Phones for Skype for Business
Supplemental Guide – DOC. 8412A
Set Up a Phone Network
These phones operate on an Ethernet local area network (LAN) which varies by
organization and can be configured to accommodate a number of network designs.
In order to get your phones operating, basic network setup, such as IP address and
subnet mask configuration must be performed. The IPv4 or IPv6 network parameters for
the phone must be configured. The appropriate security (VLAN and/or 802.1x
authentication) and Quality of Service (QoS) settings can also be configured for the
phone.
This section describes how to configure all the network parameters for phones, and it
provides information on the following topics:
•
DHCP
•
DHCP Option
•
Configuring Network Parameters Manually
•
Configuring Transmission Methods of the Internet Port and PC Port
•

DHCP
DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) is a network protocol used to dynamically
allocate network parameters to network hosts. The automatic allocation of network
parameters to hosts eases the administrative burden of maintaining an IP network.
Skype for Business phones comply with the DHCP specifications documented in RFC
2131. If using DHCP, phones connected to the network become operational without
having to be manually assigned IP addresses and additional network parameters.
