8BCONTROL FUNCTIONS
PROTECTION, CONTROL AND METERING FUNCTIONS
Upon detecting absence of voltage on the source-side, it opens after a
configurable time.
During a load transfer condition, when the breaker associated with the
RTE is closed manually or remotely, and the feeder breaker in the
substation opens, the loads between the RTA and the feeder breaker
must be fed nonetheless. It operates as follows:
a) Without the occurrence of a fault:
The RTA is fed from the non-preferred side.
It causes a reversal of power flow in the RTA.
It is reconfigured to accept the reversal of power flow with a different
group of settings.
After the configured safety time passes, the recloser does not operate
with a single trip scheme, but with a reclosing cycle.
b) Opening:
Upon detecting absence of voltage on the source side (as part of the
reconfiguration scheme). It closes upon detecting voltage on any side.
Upon Fault detection. Then, It closes when voltage is recovered at
both sides.
If opened manually or via communication, the reconfiguration scheme
is disabled.
Tie Recloser RTE
The preferred current sense is defined by means of the cabling of the
relay. This implies that when current flows from the preferred side, the
power measured by the protection must be positive. Furthermore, the
voltage sensors should preferably be on the preferred side of the
breaker.
It is configured by default with a group of settings that responds to the
preferred sense or source side current.
