2.8.1.2.1. OPERATION PRINCIPLE
The automatic reclosers must have voltage sensors on both sides of the breaker
(source and load). The principle of operation considers three types of logic
functions, which are configured in the smART P500 protective relays, depending
on its location in the circuit:
Feeder Recloser (RTA).
It is the recloser located closer to the feeder
breaker. A normally closed breaker.
Tie Recloser (RTE).
It is the recloser at the point of connection between
two circuits, whose breaker is normally open and is responsible to transfer
energy to one side or another depending on circuit conditions.
Intermediate Recloser (RTI).
It is the recloser that is located between a
Feeder and a Tie or Intermediate Recloser, between two Intermediate
Reclosers or between an Intermediate Recloser and a Tie one.A normally
closed breaker.
Here are their functions:
Feeder Recloser RTA
It is configured by default with a group of settings that responds to the
preferred sense of current.
It changes the group of settings depending on whether the current
comes from the source side or the load side.
Upon detecting a fault, it performs its reclosing cycle.
