2.1.15. RECLOSER
2.1.15.1. GENERAL DESCRIPTION (79)
A recloser is an electromechanical device to detect and interrupt overcurrents caused
by a fault in a circuit and to automatically reclose such a circuit allowing it to return to
normal operating conditions. More than 80% of the faults in aerial distribution
systems are transient in nature so the use of this kind of protection devices is very
important.
The recloser function from the smART P500 relay allows for the execution of up to 4
reclosing cycles with differentiated operation times for phase to ground and phase to
phase faults. Programmable security times after manual and automatic reclose is
also available. The recloser can be configured with single phase or three phase drive.
The 5 closure counters (total, first, second, third and fourth closures) are stored in
volatile memory and can be visualized on the display. These counters can be set to 0
using the keyboard.
