Flying Patterns
Besides the standard square Keys, you can Fly a pattern, such as a diamond or circle, in same manner
as a normal square Fly Key. The following example will describe how to Fly a Circle Pattern, but this
procedure can be applied to any preset pattern.
Use the following procedure to Fly a Circle pattern on a Synergy 3 Switcher :
1. Press the MLE 1 button at the end of the
KEY
bus on MLE 2 to re-enter MLE 1 onto
MLE 2 .
2. Press the MLE 2 button at the end of the PGM bus on MLE 3 to re-enter MLE 2 onto
MLE 3 .
You will now be able to view your work on the PGM monitor as you work through this
example.
3. Select
BLACK
on the
BKGD
bus of MLE 1 .
4. Select a video signal on the
KEY
bus of MLE 1 . This is the video that will be inside the
circle.
5. Select
Key1
and press
CUT
in the MLE 1 Transition Group to take Key 1 on MLE 1
on-air.
6. Select
Key1
and press
CUT
in the MLE 2 Transition Group to take Key 1 on MLE 2
on-air.
7. Select
PST PATT
in the MLE 1 Key 1 Group to display the PST Key Setup Menu .

8. Select the
Circle
pattern (

) in the Pattern Control Group .
Note You have to take the Key on-air for the MLE to be able to re-enter it
and view it on the PGM bus.
Note If you have the Squeeze & Tease option installed, the FLY KEY will
come on and the Squeeze & Tease Menu 1-2 is displayed. If this
happens, toggle the FLY KEY off to display the PST Key Setup
Menu .
Note Depending on the pattern you select, the Matrix Menu may be
displayed. If this happens, press the PST PATT button again to display
the PST Key Setup Menu .
