Using Key Modifiers
This section provides basic instructions for using key modifiers. The following topics are discussed:

Filling a Key with Matte
Use the following procedure to fill a key with matte color:
1. Set up the desired key type and source, and clip the key using the controls in the
Effects
Control
group.
2. In the selected
MLE
keyer (or
Downstream
keyer), press
MATTE FILL
. The matte
generator’s
current color
now fills the key hole.
3. Use the
HUE
,
SAT
and
LUM
controls in the
Matte Group
to modify the matte’s hue,
saturation and luminance, respectively.
4. If desired, press
WASH 1
or
WASH 2
to display the
Wash Menu
. This menu allows
you to design a custom wash color with which to fill the key.
5. Add additional key modifiers as required, then select the desired manual or auto
transition in the normal manner.
This completes the procedure to fill a key with matte color. Refer to the section “
page 6–16 for more detailed color wash instructions.
Masking Keys
Use the following procedure to mask a key. Note that all keys can be masked with the
exception
of
Preset Pattern keys.
1. Set up the desired key type and source, and clip the key using the controls in the
Effects
Control
group.
2. In the selected keyer, press
MASK.
The mask generator’s current settings are now
applied to the key and the
MASK
menu will appear on the menu display.

All key modifiers discussed in this section refer to Squeeze & Tease
(S&T) 2D usage. For information on using 3D S&T Key modifiers,
refer to the

.
Note
All key types
except
Preset Pattern keys (either flown or not) can be
filled with matte.
