PiXtend V2 -L- Hardware Manual
6.2.4.Power supply - Raspberry Pi 7“ touch display
The Raspberry Pi 7" touch display (original accessories from the
Raspberry Pi Foundation
)
requires a supply voltage of 5 V DC and receives a current of approx. 400 mA.
On PiXtend V2 -L- you will find a supply connection for this purpose directly next to the 40-
pin connector (see Fig. 49). With this, there is no need for a separate power supply for the
display.
If the connection for the indicated display is used, the permissible load on the RPi USB
ports is reduced to 1x 500 mA (without display 2x 500 mA).
Warning!
The connection has no fuse protection - overloads and short
circuits can lead to the breakdown of the entire 5 V supply of
PiXtend and Raspberry Pi.
Do not connect any cables longer than 3 meters and no load
greater than 500 mA.
The connection is sufficient for test setups and non-commercial use. In the industrial
environment, the display should be connected via a separate power supply with suitable
connectors to ensure mechanical durability.
