PiXtend V2 -L- Hardware Manual
6.4.4.GPIOs as digital inputs and outputs
The four GPIOs
6
(GPIO0 - GPIO3) of PiXtend V2 -L- can be configured and used for
different tasks depending on the requirements. In general, the PiXtend GPIOs are
designed for the range between 0 V to 5 V DC.
Applications
–
Connection of sensors, push buttons and limit switches (as input)
–
Direct connection of microcomputers such as LEDs (as output)
–
Connection to digital inputs or outputs of other control units or microprocessors
–
Connection of temperature and humidity sensors
(DHT11 / DHT22 / AM2302)
Unlike other inputs and outputs on PiXtend V2 -L-, the GPIOs only have basic protection
devices. Therefore only short cables (less than 3 meters) are allowed. As output the
GPIOs are short-circuit proof (against GND).
The GPIOs described here are connected to the PiXtend microcontroller (5 V logic) and
have nothing to do with the 3.3 V GPIOs of the Raspberry Pi.
The GPIOs are configured by software (PiXtend Linux tools (pxdev) / CODESYS / Python /
Node-RED, others).
