PiXtend V2 -L- Hardware Manual
6.2.2.Power supply
The central voltage regulator on PiXtend V2 -L- can supply both, the PiXtend and the
Raspberry Pi computer via one connection.
An external power supply supplies PiXtend with a voltage of 12 - 30 V DC and a maximum
current of 1.2 A. The voltage regulator on PiXtend produces a stabilized and short-circuit-
proof 5 V DC voltage. The majority of the circuit parts on PiXtend V2 -L- are supplied with
5 V, part with 3.3 V. The 3.3 V are taken from the Raspberry Pi.
Via the 40-pin flat-ribbon cable connection, the 5 V supply voltage from PiXtend is passed
on to the Raspberry Pi. The Raspberry Pi therefore does not require a separate supply.
If necessary, however, the 5 V of PiXtend and Raspberry Pi can also be separated. The
DIP switch with the label "PI_5V" is available for the selection.
