1. Inspect for an intermittent, for poor tightening
and corrosion at the chassis ground terminal
(J-13).
2. Repair the tightening or clean the corrosion as
necessary.
3. Inspect the ECM (30A) slow blow fuse for an
open.
4. Replace the ECM (30A) slow blow fuse if
open. If it continues to open, repair the short to
ground on one of the circuits that is fed by the
ECM (30A) slow blow fuse.
Did you find and correct the condition?

1. Turn OFF the ignition.
2. Disconnect the ECM harness connector.
3. Inspect for an intermittent, for poor
connections and corrosion at the harness
connector of the ECM (pin 2, 5, 21 and 40 of
J-14).
4. Test for an open circuit or high resistance on
each relay circuit.
• Between pins 2 and 5 of J-14 and pin 2 of
X-18
• Between pins 21 and 40 of J-14 and pin 3
of X-18
• Between ECM (40A) slow blow fuse and
pin 1 of X-18
• Between pin 5 of X-18 and chassis
ground (J-13)
5. Repair the connection(s) or circuit(s) as
necessary.

Replace the ECM main relay.

programmed and learned.
Replace the ECM. Refer to ECM Replacement.

1. Reconnect all previously disconnected relay
or harness connector(s).
2. Clear the DTCs with a scan tool.
3. Turn OFF the ignition for 30 seconds.
4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
Did the DTC fail this ignition?

Observe the DTC Information with a scan tool.
