Three new codes are added.
T – TIME BASE (TMBAS)
This code determines whether the TIME BASE is external (sync encoder) or internal (normal)
for anything after it, including DWELLs and HOMEs. It is important to remember that if you
want just one thing done in sync, that you restore the TIME BASE to internal.
Example:
TABLE XVII
PCM-5 Function (TIME BASE)
STEP
CODE
FUNCTION
DATA
1
T
TIME BASE
EXT
2
I
INDEX (SCALE FACTOR)
XX
3
T
TIME BASE
INT
4
E
END
The XX in the data field for the STEP 2 INDEX is to specify what index number. When
programming this index, you would choose what scale factor you wanted for display purposes.
This program sample would (regardless of scale factor) cause this index to be ratioed to the sync
encoder by the sync ratio turns determined in drive parameters. This happens because of the
TIME BASE = EXT for STEP 1. At the end of the index, you would immediately be returned to
the internal TIME BASE (NORMAL) because of STEP 3 TIME BASE = INT.
S = START COUNTER (ST CT)
R = WAIT FOR COUNT (WTCNT)
For repetitive synchronization of indexes based on a fixed number of counts from the external
encoder, these two codes are provided.

WAIT FOR ENCODER COUNT
This program example would start a counter, execute a synchronized index specified by XX,
execute a normal index specified by YY, and wait for the programmed count. As soon as the
count is satisfied, the program would repeat 10 times because of the program count of 10. The
encoder count is based on the SCS-2 encoder producing 4000 counts per revolution. Plus/minus
(+/-) are determined by the physical rotation of the SCS-2. Plus (+) is CW rotation of the
encoder as viewed from the shaft end.
