INSTALLATION AND CONNECTIONS OF THE PCM-1
INTRODUCTION
The PCM-1 allows for memory and I/O expansion as well as parallel in, and compound
indexing. The installation of the PCM-1 module is made easy by a direct "plug-in" design. All
the electrical connections between the basic drive and the PCM-1 module are made via the 48
position connectors. Figure 1 shows how the 48-pin connectors mate on the Positioning Drive.
This is the only electrical connection required between the two units. Once plugged in, the top
and bottom handles snap into position to secure the module to the drive.

The PCM-1 module includes a parallel interface connector. The most common use of this
connector is for thumbwheel interfacing and numeric display.
The input and output connections are split between two terminal strips; one strip on the PCM
module #13-24 and one on the digital drive #1-12. Each strip consists of 8 input lines and 4
output lines.
