The Packet Voice Processor is designed for optimal performance in the following

VoIP environments:

VoIP Tandem Carrier -

1.6.1 VoIP Tandem Carrier

The Packet Voice Processor is designed for insertion within VoIP environments

where large inter-exchange carriers transport voice over diverse networks or

exchange voice traffic within a diverse set of LECs (Local Exchange Carriers) or

enterprises. In these environments, the VoIP Tandem Carrier must convert the signal

between different VoIP codec formats, measure voice quality to ensure compliance

with regulatory mandates or service level agreements, and enhance voice quality

even when transporting the signal over a managed packet network. VoIP

applications for a VoIP Tandem Carrier can be divided into voice services for LEC,

International, and Enterprises.

Figure 1-10

displays the placement of the Packet Voice Processor within a network

of VoIP Tandem Carriers, as well as how the VQA and IPR technologies would

improve the call.
