Packet Voice Processor Commands Manual

8.4 Switching
Cards

This section describes the commands used for switching cards within the Packet

Voice Processor system. For maintenance or troubleshooting reasons, the Switch

Control card, Application Processing card, or a Media Processing card in a Packet

Voice Processor system may need to be switched.

Table 8-5

describes the commands used to switch cards. Refer to

Section 8.5 on

page 85

for working and protection card to slot locations.

Note

Issuing a switch command may cause a disruption of less than 50ms.

8.4.1 Switching System Control Cards

To switch a Switch Control card, the

PROTECT SCC

command is used (see

Section 11.2.1 on page 184

for additional information). To switch back to the original

Switch Control card, enter the

RELEASE SCC

command (see

Section 11.3.1 on

page 185

for additional information).

8.4.2 Switching Media Processing Cards

To switch an Media Processing card, the

PROTECT MPC <slot #>

command is used

with the slot # corresponding to the desired card (in a specific card slot). (see

Section 11.2.2 on page 184

for additional information). To switch back to the original

Media Processing card, enter the

RELEASE MPC <slot#>

command (see

Section 11.3.2 on page 185

for additional information).

8.4.3 Switching Application Processing Cards

To switch an Application Processing card, the

PROTECT APC

command is used.

Section 11.2.3 on page 184

for additional information). To switch back to the

original Application Processing card, enter the

RELEASE APC

command (see

Section 11.3.3 on page 186

for additional information).

Note

Ditech recommends that any Packet Voice Processor card switching be done during
maintenance windows.
