Packet Voice Processor Commands Manual

6.4 Static LACP
Mode

The Packet Voice Processor supports a Static LACP mode for the LAG configuration.

The Static LACP Mode does not require the Packet Voice Processor to negotiate with

other partner devices (connected to the Packet Voice Processor) to determine the

LAG port state. An example of a Packet Voice Processor using Static LACP Mode is

where the partner devices to the Packet Voice Processor were running Cisco

Etherchannel or PAgP. These partner devices are configured in a non-negotiable

mode for them to interoperate with the Packet Voice Processor.

The following sections in this chapter discuss Static LACP mode:

6.4.1 LAG Provisioning Example

For a Static LACP mode, the LAG port state (active, inactive, or standby) is

determined by the following 3 considerations:

Physical connectivity to the partner device.

Redundancy role assigned to the port using the Packet Voice Processor CLI

(Master or Backup)

IP connectivity to the next-hop media device from the LAG port

Table 6-5 on page 68

describes the process for LAG provisioning (Static LACP

Mode) where 2 LAG ports are configured as active and 2 LAG ports are configured

as standby without using LACP. The 2 LAG ports configured as active and the 2 LAG

ports configured as standby are patched to 2 VRRP routers configured as one virtual

router.

Figure 6-3 on page 67

displays an illustration of the LAG configuration for the

provisioning process (Static LACP Mode) described in

Table 6-5
