Introduction

Packet Voice Processor Commands Manual

1.2.1 Media Interface Features

The Packet Voice Processor Interface Processing cards support the following

Ethernet interfaces for connection to the RTP media network:

1000Base-T interface (RJ-45 connectors), full duplex

1000Base-LX interface (SC connectors)

1000Base-SX interface (SC connectors)

These interfaces provide the following networking (Layer 2 and Layer 3) features:

Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP) through IEEE 802.3ad, supporting

1 to 8 Link Aggregation Groups (LAGs), and 1:N redundancy

IPv4, UDP/TCP, RTP, RTCP

UDP port number range 10,000-65,535

Configurable for 1 to 8 IP addresses

Support for static IP address configuration

Route discovery for RIP v1 and v2 based route daemon, as well as IRDP

1.2.2 Signaling Interface Features

The Signaling interface on the Switch Control card has the following features for out-

of-band SIP (RFC 3261) call control and signaling:

1000Base-T Ethernet interface at half or full duplex, with auto negotiation

Support for static IP address routing configuration

1:1 redundancy through active and standby Switch Control cards (each with

its own RJ-45 connector) sharing a single IP address, with card and MAC

address changeover occurring by gratuitous ARP

1.2.3 Management Interface Features

The Management interface on the Rear Transition Module (RTM) on the back of the

shelf has the following features for the management interface:

10/100Base-T Ethernet interface at half or full duplex, with auto negotiation

Support for static IP address routing configuration

1:1 management controller redundancy through active and standby Switch

Control cards, with the cards sharing a single management RJ-45 connector

on the backplane (a single IP address and an single MAC address), with card

changeover occurring by gratuitous ARP

Note

When accessing the Packet Voice Processor for the first time, use the serial port
connection on the faceplate of the Switch Control card to set the IP address of the
Ethernet management port located on the shelf backplane.
