connect and operate in an IP network. Note that in

Figure 6-2

, there are separate

switch routers for system management, signaling, and for the bearer (media) IP

network. Other possible configurations permit system management and signaling

functions being combined in a single switch router, or signaling and the bearer

(media) IP network functions combined in a single switch router.

Terminal Server

The terminal server is optional for a Packet Voice Processor
system configuration.

If a terminal server is used, it must be connected to the system
management IP network, as well as reachable by the Packet
Voice Processor.
