Packet Voice Processor Commands Manual
2.6 Security The Packet Voice Processor system provides password and security functionality for
IP network connectivity. Administration security functions include password
management, user level assignment, command display and logging options. Security
is always enabled on the Packet Voice Processor system’s management Ethernet
ports.
The PVP system supports the following four user privilege levels:
Admin level
Expert level
Write level
Read level
These four levels of security are hierarchical. The highest access level, Admin,
provides the broadest access to the system, while the lowest access level, Read,
provides the least system access. For example, users with Admin level privileges can
access all commands and change all user passwords, while users with Read level
access privileges can only view data and are unable to change the status of the
system.
Commands available and displayed to the user are dependent upon that user’s
security access level. Therefore, the HELP command (see Section 2.5 on page 30 )
displays a list of commands available to the user based upon that security level.

The Packet Voice Processor command components must be in the following order
(syntax):
Command [<parameter>] [list{<option> [<parameter>]}] [<action>] [list{<parameter>}]
Example 2-3 on page 33 displays an example of a Packet Voice Processor
command and output. This command displays management interface data from the
management port. The command name in this example is “INTERFACE”, the
command parameter is “MGMT/0 “, and the command action is ‘SHOW”.
