1.3.2 PVP SIP Signaling Example - Enterprise End-to-End Application

Figure 1-6

below displays an example of a Packet Voice Processor functioning within

an enterprise end-to-end application, with an Enterprise IP network connected to an

inter-exchange carrier (IXC) for the transport of voice.

In the application, employees are connected to the core network through broadband

access. The calls originate on an IP telephone or on a media terminal adapter (MTA)

connected to an analog device in the enterprise. The voice calls are assumed to be

under the control of an IP PBX. The IP PBX may utilize any control format between

itself and the IP phone. Voice traffic is based on IETF-compliant transport formats

originating from the IP phone.
