Introduction

Packet Voice Processor Commands Manual

1.1.2 Card and Slot Compatibility

Because of the different Packet Voice Processor card backplane connections, each

type of card must reside in a specific type of card slot within the shelf.

Figure 1-3

displays a shelf chassis schematic with all 14 slots housing the different Packet Voice

Processor card types. The front and rear card slots are labeled with a number and

card type.

A Packet Voice Processor system configuration with two Interface Processing cards

requires their placement in slots 4 and 6.

A Packet Voice Processor system configuration with Application Processing cards

requires their placement in slots 8 and 10. The Application Processing Card itself

consists of a carrier board with up to four installed Processor PCI Mezzanine Cards

(PrPMCs), each housing two processors.

Note that the card slots are not numbered sequentially left to right, but from the center

outward.
