5.4 Policy
Provisioning

Signal provisioning is accomplished for the Packet Voice Processor by provisioning

both a profile and policy (see

Section 5.2, “Profiles and Policies”, on page 45

). The

Packet Voice Processor is designed so that user created profiles apply specifically

provisioned policies to the IP packet streams.

Note

Policy provisioning is where transcoding parameters are set.

5.4.1 Signaling Profile Creation Only

Ditech recommends that for every configured signaling profile, a signaling policy and

VQA profile also be configured.

Note

The PVP Can Support a maximum of 40 Signaling Profiles.

If a user creates a signaling profile without creating a signaling policy a system

default setting will be applied to the packet streams (note that calls will not fail and

will still be processed by the Packet Voice Processor). This system default setting are

as follows:

Autoselect for codec settings for both sides

Default packetization period for codecs applied

No Fax Setup

VQA settings are disabled

5.4.2 Transcoding

Transcoding provisioning is performed when creating the different Packet Voice

Processor signaling policies. There are no separate commands for codec

configuration.

Table 5-5

Processor.
