2.4 Device Controls
Device Controls is the portion of the control panel that can be assigned to whichever
device you wish to control, i.e. clips, graphics, keyers, etc. The right half of the panel is
comprised of the device controls, as shown in the illustration below. The remainder of
the panel is comprised of the fixed controls, which are described in section 4.
The device controls are comprised of the Joystick, and 2 device control sections, each of
which are comprised of 4 knobs, 4 motion buttons, a group of 12 PixButtons called the
PixPad, 3 switcher functions and a display, as shown below. When any device is
selected, all of these controls are dedicated to it.
Device Control-A is mainly used to select content, like clips, where as Device Control-B
is used for switcher functions, like keyer modifications.
Each Device Control has a
[Hold]
button, which in effect freezes (or holds) the PixPad
and its Device Control section to the active device. Once another device is selected it
automatically appears in the non-held device control. This concept is useful when
access to more than one device is needed, for example CG 1 selected then held in
Device Control-A and Clips 1 in Device Control-B. Now there is easy access to both
content channels, without the need of changing back and forth. The hold buttons are
also useful when using Memories and/or Camera Control, where you can dedicate one
PixPad and Device Control to that specific need. Only one device at a time can be held,
if a device needs a specific Device Control (like a Keyer) the display will read out
“Device Control is held”, releasing the Hold button will grant access to the device.
