4.14 Fail-Safe On-Air Production
While the workstation is very reliable, if it should ever lock up a Fail-Safe capability can
be set to automatically take over, and keep video on-air until the workstation recovers.
On the Slate 5008G, one camera is sent to program output. On the Slate 5016G and
5032G the router enables all sources to still be switched even if the workstation is
unplugged.

Fail-Safe on Slate 5008G
Fail-Safe on Slate 5008G switchers offer basic relay outputs. If the computer should fail,
lock up or be unplugged, then Input 1 will be automatically sent out of the D output and
Input 5 will also be sent out Output E.

NOTE:
On Analog I/O cards, the format of Input 1/5 must match the format of Output D/E for Fail-Safe
video to work properly. Both need be be either Composite, S-Video or YUV. The same is true for HD I/O
cards, no conversion occurs while the system is in fail-safe.
