1.12 2ME Bus Mode
There are several ways in which you can use the resources of a Broadcast Pix Slate
5000G switcher, and depending on your show needs you will need to select the
appropriate 2 ME Bus Mode.
If the Preview bus is needed on both M/Es, then the
ME1 preview, 5 keys, no Slate
aux
mode needs to be selected.
This mode is useful when ME 1 and ME 2 are feeding two different outputs, for
example in a church production where ME 1 is going to a projector and ME 2 to a
record deck, and independent monitoring of both preview buses are needed. This mode
effectively turns the 2 M/E panel into two switchers in one. In result Key 6 is disabled
for a total of 5 keyers, and no internal auxes are available.
If all 6 keyers are needed, then the
No ME1 preview, 6 keys, no Slate aux
mode
needs to be selected.
This mode is useful when producing complex compositions in both M/Es, for example in
news or sports production. Traditionally the preview bus of ME 1 is not needed, since
the program bus and key layers of ME 1 feed into ME 2, all previewing of ME 1 will
occur in ME 2. In result the background of ME 1 Preview will be disabled and no
internal auxes are available.
If an internal aux is need, then the
No ME1 preview, 5 keys, 1 Slate aux
mode needs
to be selected.
This mode is useful when needing to output an internal clip or graphic to a separate
destination, for example to a monitor on set with a graphic of a news story coming
from the internal still store. In result the background of ME 1 preview and Key 6 will be
disabled, leaving only 5 keyers. For more about auxes, see section 4.11.
To have complete flexibility of all the above features, then the
ME1 preview, 4 keys, 1
Slate aux
mode needs to be selected.
NOTE:
A restart of the BPswitcher application is necessary to activate the selected 2ME bus mode. When
only 4 or 5 keyers are enabled, the Key 5 and/or 6 PixButtons are unlit on both the destination row and the
ME 2 Direct Key section to indicate they’ve been re-routed for other purposes.
