Section 4. Program Operation

UPLOADING A SYSTEM CONFIGURATION TO A PC
The Upload function transfers a previously downloaded system configuration back up to the
computer. The configuration can then be modified, saved to disk, and/or used to program
another console. The only information not retained are the optional channel and auxiliary I/O
names because these are not part of the data when downloading to the console. These names
are included, however, when saving a configuration to disk.
Select
U
from the MAIN menu to display the UPLOAD menu and the uploading instruction
window.
Connect the serial cable and prepare the console as described above to the point where the
console displays “PROGRAM”. From the UPLOAD menu, select Upload and press
ENTER
.
The console now checks its internal configuration data and sends it to the PC while
displaying “UpLoading CPS” if the data is valid. After a few moments, the display shows
“**DONE**” to indicate the upload is finished. In CPS, the file name of the uploaded
configuration is displayed in the status line at the bottom of the screen. You may now
examine, modify, and save the configuration.
QUITTING CPS
The Quit function exits CPS and returns control back to the operating system. Before actually
exiting, the program checks to see if any modifications have been made. If so, the program
will prompt “Changes have been made to the configuration. Do you wish to save the changes
before exiting.” Answering
Y
will cause the program to act as if the Write function was
selected from the MAIN menu. After saving the configuration to the disk, the program will
exit. Answering
N
will exit the program without saving the configuration.
