CYLINDER BLOCK
Tighten the eight bearing cap bolts [1] in the numbered
sequence shown.
Tighten them to the specified torque, then tighten them
to an additional 58°.
Tighten the five (10 x 60 mm), (10 x 109 mm), and two
(10 x 80 mm) side bolts [2] in the numbered sequence
shown.
Tighten them to the specified torque.
Apply marine grease to a new oil seal [1] lips.
Drive in the oil seal into the oil seal case [2] using the
special tools.
Wipe the oil off the mating surface of the cylinder block
and oil seal case.
Before installing the oil seal case, apply a 1.5 -3.0 mm
bead of liquid gasket (Threebond
®
#1280B or
equivalent) to the shaded part as shown.
• To prevent leaks, do not install the parts if 5 minutes
or more have elapsed since applying the liquid
gasket. Instead, reapply liquid gasket after removing
the old residue.
• After assembly, wait at least 30 minutes before filling
the engine with oil.
• Do not apply liquid gasket to the O-ring groove.
TORQUE: 29 N·m (3.0 kgf·m, 21 lbf·ft) + 58°
TORQUE: 49 N·m (5.0 kgf·m, 36 lbf·ft)
