CYLINDER HEAD
Select a suitable tool [1] that matches the diameter of
the valve spring retainer. Attach the tool to the retainer
and lightly tap on the tool to separate the valve keepers
and the retainer.
• Tap at right angles to each valve stem head. Take
care not to bend the valves.
Using the special tool, compress the valve springs and
remove the valve keepers [1].
• Take care not to hit the cylinder head with the
special tool.
Identify keepers as they are removed so they can be
reinstalled in their original locations.
Remove the valve spring retainer [1], valve spring [2],
valve [3], valve spring seat [4], and valve stem seal. [5]
Replace the valve stem seal when reassembling.
Check the valve head for nicks and carbon deposits
before installation.
Identify parts as they are removed so they can be
reinstalled in their original locations.
Check the cylinder head parts (page 14-33).
