CYLINDER HEAD
CAMSHAFT JOURNAL I.D.
Measure the I.D. of each camshaft journal.
CAMSHAFT OIL CLEARANCE
Zero the gauge to the camshaft journal O.D.
Clean the camshaft bearing surfaces in the cylinder
head. Measure the inside diameter of each camshaft
bearing surface, and check for an out-of-round
condition.
If the camshaft oil clearance is exceeds the service
limit, replace the camshaft or cylinder head.
CAMSHAFT AXIAL CLEARANCE
Put the camshaft at top dead center of the compression
stroke of the No. 1 piston (with the groove up). Check
the camshaft axial play by pushing and pulling the
camshaft as shown.
If the measurement exceeds the service limit, replace
the camshaft.
Install a new camshaft and recheck the axial play. If the
measurement still exceeds the service limit, replace the
cylinder head.

43.000 – 43.024 mm (1.6929 – 1.6939 in)

0.15 mm (0.006 in)
STANDARD:
0.05 – 0.20 mm (0.002 – 0.008 in)
SERVICE LIMIT:
0.2 mm (0.01 in)
