Deactivate User-ID
When selected, this option specifies that the user will be locked out
of the system after the number of failed login attempts specified in
the Failed Attempts field:
Failed Attempts - The number of unsuccessful login attempts after
which the user's User-ID will be deactivated. This field is enabled
when the Deactivate User-ID option is selected. The valid range is 1 -
10.
When a user-ID is deactivated after the specified number of failed
attempts, the administrator must change the user password and
activate the user account by selecting the Active checkbox on the
User page.
Strong Passwords
Enable and configure strong passwords on the Security Settings page.
•
Select Security > Security Settings to configure strong passwords.
Strong passwords provide more secure local authentication for the
system. Using strong passwords, you can specify the format of valid SX
II local passwords such as minimum and maximum length, required
characters, and password history retention.
Users with passwords not meeting strong password criteria are
automatically required to change their password on their next login.
When not enabled, only the standard format validation is enforced.
The minimum, general requirements when strong passwords are
enabled are that -
•
Passwords must be at least 8 characters long
•
Have at least one alphabetical character
•
Have at least one nonalphabetical character such as a punctuation
character or number
•
The first four characters of the password and the user's username
cannot match
A password cannot begin with a space or end with a space
