Configuring a Source
Partition for Cartridge
Based Replication
Configure a VTL partition for Cartridge Based Replication to
automatically replicate cartridges to a target system. A cartridge is
automatically replicated when it is unmounted. After replication, the
replicated cartridges are immediately available on the target system.
There is no need to recover the partition to make the cartridges
available. Disable Cartridge Based Replication if you do not want to
automatically replicate cartridges.
When you configure a partition for Cartridge Based Replication, you
specify a Sync ID for the partition. The Sync ID associates the partition
on the source system with the partition on the target system that will
received the replicated data. As long as you specify a matching Sync ID
for both the source and target partitions, the partitions do not have to
have the identical names. However, if you do not specify a Sync ID, the
source and target partitions must have identical names. Quantum
recommends that you assign a matching Sync ID to the source and
target partitions.
Note:
For information about specifying the Sync ID on the target
partition, see
Configuring a Target Partition for Cartridge Based
Replication
on page 215.
To configure a partition for Cartridge Based Replication:
1
Select the partition and click
Edit
.
The
Edit Partition
page displays (see
Figure 104
).
2
If it is not already selected, select the
Enable replication
check box
to enable replication for the partition.
3
Select the
Enable Cartridge Based replication to target Sync ID
check box to enable Cartridge Based Replication for the partition.
Or clear the
Enable Cartridge Based replication to target Sync ID
check box to disable Cartridge Based Replication for the partition.
4
Enter a
Sync ID
in the box.
The Sync ID is used to identify the target partition that will receive
replicated data from the source partition. The Sync ID
must
be
identical to the Sync ID of the target partition on the target system.
