Powering on the DXi8500 System
The DXi8500 system is powered-on in the following sequence:
1 Power strips
2 Expansion modules (if using)
3 Array modules
4 Metadata module(s)
5 System Node
Note:
Before you begin this procedure, make sure the power switches
are physically in the OFF position for the Metadata modules,
Array modules, and Expansion modules (if using). After turning
on the power to the rack, verify that the System Node lights are
off, and that only the Ethernet and the Fibre Channel switch
lights are on.
Follow these steps to power-on the DXi8500:
1 Turn on the power strips by choosing one of these options:
• For a pre-racked DXi8500 system, continue to Step 2 .
• For an un-racked DXi8500 system, continue to Step 3 .
2 On the back of the (pre-racked system) rack, turn on the power
switches, which are located on the back of the following power
strips, according to the steps below (see Figure 42 for the base
rack):
a Circuit A1 — Turn on the power switches.
b Circuit A2 — Turn on the power switches.
c Circuit B1 — Turn on the power switches.
d Circuit B2 — Turn on the power switches.
Note:
Wait approximately 2 minutes for the Ethernet and (2TB
systems) Fibre Channel switches to boot. After the power
has been applied to the power strips, verify that the
Ethernet switch LEDs are on in the back of the system.
