7-30 Upgrading your Server
Installation
Use the following process to install a PCI board into a PCI slot on the motherboard.
IMPORTANT:
!
Some types of board require the connector cap on the adjacent slot to be
removed when they are installed.
!
3.3 V or universal PCI boards can be installed in PCI board slots #1, #5,
and #6.
!
5 V or universal PCI boards can be installed in PCI board slots #2, #3,
and #4.

Preparing for Upgrade
described earlier in this chapter.
2.
Remove the following components:
!
Left-hand side access panel as described earlier in this chapter.
!
Bottom air duct cover as described earlier in this chapter.
3.
Locate the slot in which to install the board and remove the connector cap from the slot.
IMPORTANT:
Keep the removed connector cap for future use.
4.
From the inside of the chassis, press the retention tab (1) near the expansion slot cover to
unlock the tab (2).
5.
Then, rotate the mechanism on the rear of the chassis to free the slot cover.
IMPORTANT:
Do not rotate the retention tab more than 90 degrees. Doing
so could damage the tab.
