Installing the Operating System and Utilities 4-43
ESMPRO Agent
Installing ESMPRO Agent software in Windows 2000 systems involves the following procedures:
!
Ensuring that the TCP/IP protocol and SNMP services are running.
!
Configuring the SNMP Agent for ESMPRO, including defining a community in SNMP
and specifying the Manager IP address. (For details about SNMP and Community
information, see the Windows 2000 User's Guide that comes with your system.)
!
Installing System update.
!
Installing the Agent software on each server you want to monitor.
NOTE:
Install the Agent software on the servers before installing the
Manager software. This makes setup easier since it allows the Manager to
detect Agents that are installed and running.
Instructions

monitor.

1.
Press the [Start] button, highlight [Settings], and select [Control Panel].
2.
Double-click on [Network and Dial-up Connections].
3.
Double-click on [Local Area Connection].
4.
Look at the component list. Check that TCP/IP is installed.
