Description
SOURCE
You can select the source of the recording by using Knob 1: it can be either set
to
EXTERN
for audio signals connected to your audio interface, or
INTERN
for
audio signals from MASCHINE itself (either from another Group or from the Mas-
ter output).
INPUT
Using Knob 2 you can choose between the available inputs. If
EXTERN
is select-
ed as
SOURCE
, you can select from the four external stereo inputs available in
MASCHINE. For each of them you can choose between the left channel, the
right channel, and both. For example, for the first external input these will be re-
ferred as
IN 1 L
,
IN 1 R
, and
IN 1 L+R
. If
INTERN
is selected you can select
from the available Groups and the Master as a source.
MODE
MASCHINE offers two different modes for starting the recording available via
Knob 3.
DETECT: If
DETECT
is selected, you can set a certain threshold using Knob 4
(
THRESHOLD
). The threshold is indicated by a little arrow above the level me-
ters on the left display. After you press Button 5 (
START
), the input signal level
exceeding this threshold will start the recording. You can then manually stop the
recording by pressing Button 5 (
STOP
) again. This is useful to record a singer or
an instrumentalist, for example.
SYNC: If
SYNC
is selected, you can synchronize the recording function to the se-
quencer, so that the recording starts in sync with the sequencer after you press
Button 5 (
START
). The recording will start at the top of the next bar. Using Knob
4, you can choose a length for the Sample to be recorded: either 1, 2, 4, 8, or
16 bars or choose
FREE
if you want to stop the recording yourself by pressing
Button 5 (
STOP
) again.
START
Press Button 5 (
START
) to begin recording. If you have selected
SYNC
, MA-
SCHINE will wait for the next bar before starting to record; if you have selected
DETECT
, the recording will start as soon as the
THRESHOLD
value is met. Once
the recording has started, the same Button 5 shows
STOP
and allows you to stop
the recording manually, while Button 6 (
CANCEL
) cancels the recording — the
recorded Sample will not be saved.
