Now hit the pads you want to record and listen to what happens. Each hit will create an
event in the Pattern Editor, the event length depend on how long you hold the pad.

When you’re done, press
REC
again to leave Record mode.
Recording a Pattern: press PLAY then REC and hit some pads!
Recording Mode
By default, all pad hits are added as events/notes when the Pattern cycles. This is called the
Overdub mode. You can easily switch to Replace mode if you press
REC
+
ERASE
at the same
time. In Replace mode, recorded notes are replaced by what you play.
If you press
ERASE
together with a pad while recording, all events at the current play position
are deleted (see section
).
Take your time to set up the pad sensitivity and velocity scaling to your personal taste —
you will have even more fun playing MASCHINE! These settings can be found in
Preferen-
ces > Hardware > Pads

Using the Metronome and the Count-in
The metronome will help you to keep time when recording in real time.

Press

PLAY
to activate or deactivate the metronome.
Metronome Volume
To adjust the volume of the metronome, with
VOLUME
activated, hold
SHIFT
+
PLAY
and turn
the Control encoder.
