To allow IP phones on the Internet in the private networking scenario described above, you may

want to consider the following options:
• Configure a static NAT assignment in the near-end NAT. Program the MiVoice Office 250 to

know its NATed address along with which phones are connecting from the Internet. See “Con

figuring Near-End NAT Traversal for IP Phones” on

• Provide VPN connectivity between the private network and the network containing the IP phone.
• Network an additional MiVoice Office 250 using PRI networking, and place it in a non-NATed

DMZ as described in “Public (Untrusted) Networks” on
