Processes and Procedures
With the PS-1 chassis installed in accordance with “Installing the Physical Processing Server (PS-1)”
, you are ready to configure the PS-1 and the Base Server.
To add a PS-1, you must first upgrade the software, then configure the system settings. The
conversion process requires that you perform the following procedures.
1.
Prepare the Base Server for the conversion and upgrade.
2.
Associate the Base Server with the PS-1on the LAN.
3.
Configure the PS-1 on the LAN.
4.
Configure the Base Server in DB Programming.
5.
Reload system and voice mail databases.
6.
Verify that external clients point to the PS-1 rather than the Base Server.

o prepare the system for the conversion and upgrade:
1.
Back up the system and voice mail databases. Refer to the
MiVoice Office 250 Features and
Programming Guide
, for the detailed procedure.
2.
To verify the integrity of the saved database, run the DB Test & Repair Utility.
3.
Convert the database.
4.
Upgrade the system software to the latest version. For the detailed procedure, see “Upgrading
Existing Systems to v5.x and later Software“ on

While the system is rebooting as a result of the upgrade, remove the USB security key from the
Base Server chassis and insert it into a USB 2.0 port on the front or back of the PS-1. See Figure
and Figure 6 on
To
associate
the Base Server and the PS-1 on the LAN:
1.
Use the LCD panel menu to navigate to
Network
\
Current
\<
IP Address
> to see if the IP address
for the PS-1 has auto-converted to the correct values.
2.
If the correct values do not appear, use the LCD panel menu to navigate to
Network
–
Configure
–
IP Address
. Enter the Base Server static IP, subnet mask, and gateway IP addresses and
disable
DHCP.
3.
Under
Main Menu
on the LCD panel select
System Menu
, and then scroll down to Gateway mode.
Toggle the
Gateway Mode
setting from
Disabled
, to
Enabled
. Observe the message,
Waiting for
PS-Server Connection
on the LCD panel of the Base Server.
4.
Power up the PS-1, if it is not already done. The PS-1 comes with the software pre-installed.
After the system has booted up, it performs a self-test. When the self-test completes, the LCD
panel on the Base Server displays
MiVoice Office 250
.
To configure the PS-1 on the LAN:
1.
Attach a monitor, keyboard, and mouse or, if using a laptop PC, attach the specified serial cable
and null modem to the PS-1. For details see Figure 15 on
