Installing a Dual T1/E1/PRI Module (T1M-2)
This procedure assumes the required pre-installation checklist items, regarding T1/E1/PRI, are in
place. If necessary, see “Gathering the Necessary Tools and Supplies“ on page 134 .
The Dual T1/E1/PRI module is installed and configured like the single T1/E1/PRI module with the
following exception: Each port on the dual module can be configured differently from the other. For
example, you can configure one port for T1 and the other for T1/PRI or E1/PRI. The single T1 module
provides two ports as well, but one of the ports is for testing purposes. Unlike the single T1/E1/PRI
module, the dual module does not provide the test port.
To install a Dual T1/E1/PRI module:
1. Using a properly terminated anti-static wrist strap, remove the module from the protective an -
ti-static bag.
2. Insert the module carefully so that it aligns with the rails inside the chassis, and then gently slide
the module into the chassis until it stops and the module release lever clicks into place (up
position). Do not use force. See
Figure 6
below for an illustration of this module.
3. Tighten the fastener at the top of the module, securing the module to the chassis. Do not over
tighten this fastener.
IMPORTANT
The Dual T1/E1/PRI module can be removed with power on; however, you must wait
for the REMOVE LED indicator to change to green before removing the module.
Pressing and holding the release lever until the LED indicator turns green allows the
software to “disconnect” from the module. Not waiting until the LED turns green could
result in pending information getting lost or unexpected system behavior.
Other than the PM-1, all other modules can reside in any bay. However, DB
Programming will need to change, if you move a module (that was previously
programmed) into a different bay location.
