Using your index finger, lift the clip (from the top) located below the hookswitch, turn the clip
180 degrees, and then let the clip snap into place to form a hook. The hook keeps the handset
in the cradle when the phone is wall-mounted.

lists general troubleshooting information for problems that could occur while installing Mitel
52xx/53xx phones.
Initial 52xx/53xx Automatic Phone Configuration (DHCP)
You can set up DHCP to provide additional information to avoid having to program each Mitel phone
manually.

Problem

The UNLICENSED alarm appears
on the phone display.
Verify that you have sufficient Category D licenses. To verify, dump the
License Manager or use DB Programming.
The phone is not coming online.
Verify that the MAC Address is programmed correctly in DB Programming.
The phone is unable to load
firmware.
Verify that the TFTP server is running on the 5000 (use the AWP to check
status). Using OLM, verify that the TFTP server has the correct binary files.

The display name is partially cut off
and/or a blinking cursor is
displayed after the firmware is
loaded.
There are two possible reasons for this type of error:
• The system is down.
• An incorrect MAC address is entered in DB Programming for the phone.
A phone entered into DB Programming with an incorrect MAC address
will still appear to download the initial configuration files; however, the
display error message indicates that the phone is not configured in the
system.
DHCP Discovery
Option 128 Missing
appears on
the phone display.
Verify that the IP addresses entered in the phone for the Base server and
TFTP server are correct (they must be the same IP address, if using the
MiVoice Office 250 as the TFTP server).
The phone has been accidentally
configured in “SIP Mode.” (SIP
Mode is enabled by pressing *7
while the phone is powering on.)

In SIP Mode, a phone
display may also show several
scrolling Associated Press news
clips
Power cycle the phone. While the phone is powering on, do one of the
following:
• Press and hold

After powering on the phone, configure as described in “Initial 52xx/53xx
Manual Phone Configuration” on

ENHANCED SEC MODE appears
on the phone display after the
phone is powered on.
The phone must be returned for service. Contact your local provider or Mitel
Technical Support for instructions.
NOTE
This procedure assumes the MiVoice Office 250 is up, configured, and running—this
includes the desired number of Mitel 52xx/53xx phones configured in DB Programming.
